Tourism has been hit hard by attacks over recent months and years. To name a few, Tunisia, Paris, Brussels and of course aircraft incidents too, Sharm and the German wings flight both come to mind amongst others. So many terrible atrocities shaken many.
With the attack in the Westminster area of London yesterday, I thought this post is appropriate now. We need to address OUR issue.
While some people may change their travel plans and avoid these places and in some cases airlines because they are supposedly ‘dangerous’, I won’t be. I will still walk the streets of Westminster and not be affected, I will still visit Paris without a worry. Why? Because I know that in changing the way we live, we have been victims of terror and will be in the future, we become easy targets.
Attacks such as these are never totally avoidable and its a sad truth to see that this is the world we live in. We’ve got to stop living in our secure and oblivious bubble. I’m not telling you to be hyper viligent, just aware. Aware of possibility and your surroundings. And that’s all what we need to do. In doing this we become stronger, forever. Not for a few weeks while you virtue signal your solidarity through a Facebook photo then go back to your usual self.
We are collectively responsible for our safety and security. Don’t let a country’s tourism industry suffer at the hands of terrorists. So stand with me. Be aware and enjoy your trip wherever you’re headed.
